Abstract

The methodology for testing sunflower harvesting machines is discussed. The main types of agricultural machinery testing conducted at machine testing stations (MIS) are described. In practice, a combined approach is often used: at first, laboratory and bench tests followed by field and operational tests. A study of the regulatory framework governing testing emphasizes the importance of unifying approaches and standards. This, in turn, contributes to a more objective assessment and ensures the comparability of results obtained in various real-world conditions. Emphasis is placed on the machinery that received positive consumer feedback demonstrating its practical value and market demand. The program and methodology for periodic testing of grain harvesting machines with sunflower headers from both imported and domestic manufacturers are discussed. Testing under typical soil and climatic conditions when sunflower crops reached full maturity allowed obtaining representative data on the machinery performance. Innovative solutions incorporated into the design of the tested combine harvesters are aimed at optimizing the harvesting process, minimizing losses, and improving the quality of the harvested crop. The compliance with agronomic requirements confirms the equipment readiness for operation under real-world production conditions. A study conducted on the application of modern regulatory documents in testing sunflower harvesting machines showed that all sunflower harvesting equipment met the requirements of modern regulatory documentation. Further development and refinement of testing methodology taking into account modern trends in automation and digitalization of agricultural production is essential for maintaining the competitiveness of domestic equipment in the global market. The implementation of advanced standards encompassing not only technical specifications but also environmental safety and energy efficiency will ensure the sustainable development of the industry and increase its economic attractiveness.
