Therapeutic efficacy of complex homeopathic medicines for myocarditis in cows

Abstract

The research findings on the therapeutic efficacy of the complex homeopathic products Echinacea compositum and Lachesis compositum in combination with basic therapy for myocarditis in Holstein cows are discussed. The inclusion of these drugs as part of complex therapy was found to have a pronounced positive effect on the clinical and physiological state of the animals and the functional activity of the myocardium. During treatment, a significant decrease in heart rate from 102 ± 9.7 to 65 ± 3.8 beats per minute was observed, the R-wave voltage amplitude restored from 0.65 ± 0.09 to 1.28 ± 0.18 mV, and the pathological changes in the T wave and ST segment, as registered by electrocardiography, disappeared. Positive changes in hematological and biochemical blood indices were recorded: a decrease in the leukocyte level from 14.6 ± 0.5 to 8.6 ± 0.2 × 10⁹ L, an 18.4% increase in hemoglobin concentration, a 55.7% reduction in AST activity (from 186.4 ± 18.5 to 82.5 ± 7.4 U L), and a 28.0% reduction in ALT activity (from 78.2 ± 7.6 to 56.3 ± 4.8 U L). The indices of protein metabolism, as well as liver and kidney function, remained within the physiological norm throughout the study, which confirmed the safety of the treatment regimen used. Clinical recovery in the experimental group occurred in 100% of the animals after an average of 18.4 ± 3.24 days which was by 4-6 days faster than in the control group. The data obtained indicate a pronounced anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective effect of the studied drugs allowing their inclusion in the treatment regimens for myocarditis in cattle to be recommended as an effective adjuvant.
