This paper discusses the research findings on improving the production and technological activities of engineering and technical services in the field of improving the organization and technology of technical service of equipment of livestock farms and complexes. The research target is the current state of the material and technical base of technical service of livestock mechanization equipment and the ways to modernize it. The research materials include the publications of scientific and technical workers involved in the production sector on the problem of improving methods and forms of technical service implementation of modern machinery and equipment of the livestock industry. Mechanization of technological processes in animal husbandry leads to the use of more advanced and productive machines and equipment, an increase in the volume of mechanized work in livestock production and, therefore, increasing intensity of equipment use. A high level of mechanization implies the availability of a material and technical base for the maintenance, repair and diagnosis of machines. The restoration and modernization of such an important agricultural industry as animal husbandry should also be based on the reconstruction of the material and technical base of technical service of complex machinery and equipment. Animal husbandry mechanization equipment created on the basis of the use of the latest production technologies and technical service will meet modern requirements for reliability equipment which is difficult to use and maintain. The organization of technical service in animal husbandry which meets modern requirements and technologies will allow engineering and technical staff of service enterprises and agricultural enterprises to timely and efficiently carry out all operations established in the documentation for the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment which will significantly reduce the number of downtime due to decreasing number of sudden failures of various complexity groups.
